Castaway Shores Chapter 1.10

Chapter 1.9 < | >

Francisca’s Island Journal – Monday

It’s raining (again!) today, and I figured there was no time like the present to start this little journal. Micah and his wife, Rachael, keep a journal as well, so I didn’t want the chronicle of this little island to be missing information from our family, too.

At the Whitehead house, we spend a lot of time writing (me) and sculpting (Roger). We have venues to buy, after all. I’m planning on buying/building a bookstore, and he wants to open up a consignment store on the island.

We also wanted to start a family right away. Roger isn’t getting any younger, and he wants to be around for their formative years, at least.

Francisca’s Island Journal – Wednesday

I am pregnant, and I decided a cat is just what we needed – so Roxy joined our small family. Roger says he’s hoping for a girl, while I’m wishing to buy new things for our small house. I guess the thought of saving is still a little alien to me.

Screenshot-141

Roxy’s a joy to have around, and her hunting skills (hey she’s learning) will supplement our income as we save for our venues. I spent a lot of time getting to know Roxy and teaching her to hunt. Hopefully she can catch some things to sell soon!

Francisca’s Island Journal – Thursday

Our firstborn – Melody – is born with the Active and Excitable traits.

Screenshot-142

Isn’t she adorable? .. But then, all new mothers think that, don’t they? I’ve been so busy with the baby and training Roxy I barely have time for this journal!

Francisca’s Island Journal – Saturday

Melody grew up to be a toddler today – and a cute one, at that. She has beautiful blond hair she got from her dad, and the most adorable button nose. Roger and I are taking turns trying to teach her to talk, potty train, and walk.

Screenshot-144

The rest of the time, we’re still working to save money for venues. Roger thinks we’re pretty close to being able to open the first one, the consignment store. He’s even already picked out the perfect spot near the “town center” to build it.

Francisca’s Island Journal – Monday

Melody is such a cute kid! She got a doll from some obscure relative of mine, and she plays with it constantly.

Screenshot-146

She named it Wiggles, and she seems to be great friends with it. I’m not looking forward to the day she grows up, because she’ll have to be sent to boarding school, since there isn’t a school on the island yet. Her education is important, though, so it’s a sacrifice we’ll all have to make.

Francisca’s Island Journal – Wednesday

I’m pregnant again! In other news.. today was a spectacularly unlucky day. I set the stove on fire during breakfast, and I broke the computer. I didn’t get a picture of the fire because we were too busy putting it out (no fire station on the island yet, of course), but I did snap a photo of me fixing said computer later in the day.

Screenshot-143

Francisca’s Island Journal – Friday

Today was a busy day, being Melody’s birthday.. and coincidentally, our second child was born, as well.

Screenshot-147

Melody really seemed to enjoy the small party we put together for her and she gained the cat person trait, and immediately set to getting to know Roxy.

Screenshot-161

We barely finished the party before I went into labor. Apparently, practice does make perfect, because this labor went by much easier than the first one, and soon our little Harry was born.

Screenshot-149

I picked Dribbledine Sports school for Melody, and I think she’s actually looking forward to leaving first thing tomorrow morning. At least, her excitement at playing all the different sports there has tempered her nerves. I sure will miss her, though!

Francisca’s Island Journal – Monday

Today is an exciting day, both for the family and for the island. Today is the day Roger’s consignment store opens! Venue photos to follow:

Screenshot-150 Screenshot-154 Screenshot-155

On a more personal note, Harry grew up to be a toddler today! He also inherited his dad’s blonde hair, and is Clumsy and Good.

Screenshot-152

We look forward to teaching him his life skills, and watching him grow up.

Francisca’s Island Journal – Tuesday

Harry is learning quickly, he already knows how to walk, and is learning to talk today. I don’t think potty training will be too far away, either.

Screenshot-153

We just found out that I’m pregnant again! We eagerly look forward to our new little bundle of joy!

Since our family seems to just keep growing, we decided to upgrade our tiny house. We added an addition off the back, and a second story. It took less that we expected to make it, so we still have a nest egg for my bookstore.

Screenshot-157 Screenshot-158 Screenshot-159

Upstairs we have two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a nursery… downstairs, we added a nice living room, and an annex for Roger’s sculpting, as well as room for a laundry.

Francisca’s Island Journal – Thursday

Today sees another two birthdays – Harry’s and Veronica’s. Who’s Veronica? Our newest baby, of course!

Screenshot-160

First of all, Harry grew up into the rebellious trait, and has a spiky hair-do to match. He’ll be leaving tomorrow for the Sports school, as well.

Screenshot-162

Francisca’s Island Journal – Friday

Today, Harry left for school, and something else momentous happened for the island… I finally maxed out writing and could afford to build a bookstore for the island.

Screenshot-163

Now, we have to save up again.. for homes for our children when they move back home. But that’s still to come…

Chapter 1.9 < | >

Argh…. Crashes….

You know, sometimes I really hate Sims 3. My Falcon save keeps getting errors… Especially that dreaded save error 12. It’ll run ok for a while but then poof. Another error. It’s really annoying, I tell you what. For some reason my castaway challenge runs fine most of the time, it’s just the poor Falcons.  I want to get on with chapter two of Falcons, but every time I try, it errors out on me. Waiting for it to load now to try again so wish me luck!

Week 8 Day 3, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

By morning, we had a new house. (Picture spam! What can I say, I’m proud of this build.. it’s got room for everyone without making the house two story or huge.. and stayed with the island theme.)

Screenshot-103 Screenshot-99 Screenshot-100 Screenshot-101 Screenshot-102

We even had a full bathroom! (Which you can see me working on upgrading in the last picture.) We have a full laundry room, and plenty of floor space for the tots to roam. The only thing missing from the pictures is the nursery, although you can see corners of it in a couple of the shots. Eventually that nursery will be turned into another bedroom. The new house took a good chunk out of our savings, but it was definitely time for an upgrade.

Oh, and before I forget.. today is Rach and I’s anniversary. We didn’t get much of a celebration, though, with two infants and a toddler running around the house. (Well the toddler is running – not the infants.. yet!)

Week 8 Day 4, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today is Renee and Riley’s birthday.. for the next day we have THREE toddlers. It’s also a full moon – not that we have any time to be going outside, anyway. … And on that note, I have to go again, the babies are waking up.

Week 8 Day 5, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Marie’s birthday was today, and we barely had time for cake. I feel bad for her, but she’s such a cheerful scamp that she doesn’t seem to mind that we have less time for her. We enrolled her in art school, to her utter delight.

Screenshot-98

Week 8 Day 6, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

I took the day off today to help out with the kids, and so I would be home to wish Marie well on her journey to school. Luckily, my boss doesn’t seem to mind, especially after hearing about the twins.

Both kids learned to talk today.. so the house is ringing with the sounds of toddlers. They’re also well on their way to walking and potty training.

Screenshot-105

When I have a spare minute to myself (in other words, when the twins are asleep) I work on upgrading the plumbing and appliances in our new house. Self-cleaning plumbing is almost a necessity in a household like ours!

Week 8 Day 7, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Riley is now walking freely on her own, and we bought and installed an automatic sprinkler for the garden.

Week 9 Day 1, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Renee was a little slower on the walking, but she’s caught up now. Both are potty trained, as well, so that’s a load off Rachael and my shoulders.

Week 9 Day 2, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

The twins had their birthday today, and we all took a “field trip” up to see the park after my work. It’s almost done! We all had a great time picnicking up there, and it was a gorgeous sunny day for it. We had a great day, but I’m exhausted.

Screenshot-107
Riley .. who wants to be a doctor..
Screenshot-108
Renee .. who wants to be an inventor..

Week 9 Day 3, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

The twins headed off for boarding school this morning. Riley goes to join Matthew at Smugglesworth Prep, and Renee is going to the Peace and Love school, hoping to learn more about inventing.

Rachael has been working every spare minute on her chemistry set, and has discovered all the possible potions – including the young again potion we got at the science place. I doubt we’ll be using it again.. but if we need to.. it’s there!

And that’s all for now! Things should be terribly quiet around the house now that they’re all off at boarding schools.

Chapter 1.7 < | > Chapter 1.9

Week 7 Day 1, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today was Sean’s birthday. He added Athletic to Genius and Artistic. We once again celebrated with cake and registered our precious son for boarding school. Based on his traits and his desire to be a policeman, we sent him to Fort Starch Military School. They’ll come pick him up in the morning.

Screenshot-91

It thunder stormed all day today… and after my lightning strike yesterday… none of us felt like braving the weather to be outside. Even Rachael elected to let her garden just grow weeds for the day rather than being outside in the thunder and lightning. I worked in the morning, then hurried home, not wanting to be outside for any longer than I could help it. Rach is feeling pretty stir-crazy today, so I promised her we could go visit the Whitehead’s tomorrow just so she can get out of the house.

Week 7 Day 2, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Sean left in the morning for school, and there was a brief window of sunshine afterwards for Rachael to take care of her garden. Unfortunately, that window was all we got.

Today, after work, we headed over to Roger and Fran’s for a while. We played some indoor games to stay out of the rain, and generally had a good time. We’ve become pretty good friends with them, and are glad they’re helping us with the island.

Week 7 Day 3, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

I got another promotion today! Now I only work three days a week, which is a blessing because we learned that Rachael is pregnant again. I’ll be able to be around to help with the baby more than I have been able to in the past.

The rain continued unabated today, so Rachael stayed indoors and worked on her logic skill. I made sure there were several plates of spaghetti in the fridge (her favorite food!) so that she wouldn’t have to cook. I like being able to cook for the family, even though I’m also the major source of income.

It was once again a Full Moon, so after dark we stayed inside and worked on our skills – me painting, her logic. We didn’t stay up too long, though, on account of her getting tired way quicker than usual with her pregnancy.

Week 7 Day 5, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Yesterday was such a ho-hum day I didn’t even bother writing in my journal. I’m not going to write much today, either, because I’ve come down with a cold and I just want to stay curled up in bed. Rachael’s doing fine, by the way, and is getting very close to mastering logic.

Week 7 Day 6, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

I had to work even though I was sick today, and all my coworkers razzed on me about looking so miserable. I blame the sickness on the rain that just doesn’t seem to want to stop coming down.

Rachael mastered logic today, and sat down at our computer to write up plans for the new park/festival grounds. It’ll be a place where all of the townspeople will be able to get together and have a good time. She still plans on picking the central plaza area that I proposed to her on, and is even incorporating the old weather stone that sits in the middle of it into the design. She emailed the plans to the foreman of the work crew we hired from the mainland to put it together, so hopefully that will be up sometime this next week.

After we’d gone to bed, we were awakened… by Rach going into labor! Finally, it’s a girl! We named her Marie, and she’s Brave and Artistic.

Week 7 Day 7, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Rachael apparently caught my cold, which is just great. I finally get over it for the weekend, and she gets sick…. in more ways than one. We thought the morning nausea might be a sign, and it was confirmed by the evening – Rachael is pregnant yet again. We’ve decided this will be the last one – four kids are enough.. and we’re hoping for another boy.

With Rachael being pregnant and me just getting over being sick… we didn’t do much today. We did hear back from the work crew foreman, and the park will be put in later this week.

This evening, we celebrated Marie’s birthday a little bit early, since she’s just such a precocious kid. She’s already pulling herself to a stand on furniture, and talking in baby language to her strange doll. (yep.. she got one, too!)

Week 8 Day 1, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Marie learned to talk today.. she really is a quick study. We don’t expect it to take much more time for her to be walking and potty trained, too.

Screenshot-94

I painted most of the day, and Rachael chased around the house after Marie – who is the most active of all of our children so far. I did manage to master painting, though, and painted something my agent calls “brilliant” .. but I’m not so sure. You be the judge…

Screenshot-96

… Perhaps I should have gotten more sleep last night?

Week 8 Day 2, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Bright and early this morning (actually, before the sun and me going to work.. so the wee hours of the morning..) .. Rachael went into labor. I immediately was worried, because it seemed too early for it. She struggled with this labor more than all the ones before.. and before long we knew why. TWINS! One boy, one girl, we named them Riley (who was born first) and Renee. Renee is eccentric and a loner, whereas Riley is a Genius and Artistic. Two very different twins. Also: Renee is blond whereas Riley has brownish red hair like Rachael. We had to put in an emergency call for another crib, because we totally hadn’t planned on a multiple birth. Marie slept with us for the rest of the night, and I called in to work, since there was no way I was in any shape to be flying jet planes after that night.

Rachael’s chemistry kit arrived today, but she didn’t have much time to work on it, other than a brief break in the afternoon when all the kids were asleep at once.

Screenshot-97

Today is the first day of Spring, too, and it was a gorgeous sunny day after the horrible rainy Fall we had. (Theres no Winter in this world.. it’s more tropical.) Marie, just like I predicted, learned to walk and potty train very quickly today.. which was a relief to Rach and I – one less thing to worry about with the twins taking turns crying their heads off.

With us having FIVE .. count them.. FIVE.. kids now, we decided that a good chunk of our savings ought to go to having a proper house.. on a proper foundation. I found a crew on the mainland that could build what we were looking for overnight, and we packed up the cribs and my old tent and camped out on the site of the new park.

Week 6 Day 1, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

It’s Sunday, so no work today. I worked on painting, although keeping an eye on my son and Rach kept me pretty distracted. In the morning, I babysat while Rachael worked in her garden – she’s already level 9!

Matthew took his first steps today, and started learning to talk, too. Not much progress on the talking yet.. but Rachael is sure trying! Potty training is coming along, too… albeit slowly.

Week 6 Day 2, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

I got a promotion today! No longer am I cleaning latrines, thank goodness. That was an utterly thankless job!

My second son, Sean, was born tonight. Luckily, it was another easy birth for Rachael. He’s a genius and artistic.. I’m sure he’ll go far with those traits!

I was, obviously, in charge of Matt while Rach was occupied, and I managed to finish teaching him to walk. He’s still a little wobbly, but he’s completely stopped crawling, since he can get there faster on his feet.

Screenshot-82

He also really seems to enjoy the peg box we got him, learning logic as he plays. He’s also still teething, as you can see in the picture… everything goes in his mouth!

Week 6 Day 3, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today is Rachael’s birthday, she’s turning into an elder and not looking forward to it. Since we’re both getting older, we’ve been looking into rejuvenating options. The mainland science lab is running a study on the effects of aging, and they swear they have a working potion to reverse it. We’ve made an appointment for Friday after my work.

I also got another promotion today, and arrived home to learn that Matt had finally been potty trained. I spent some time painting while Rachael worked on logic and Matt played with his blocks and the strange doll he’d gotten from some long lost relative of mine.

Week 6 Day 4, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today is Sean’s birthday – he’ll finally be a toddler. We’re hoping that means he’ll start sleeping through the night. From our experience with Matt, toddler-hood is when he was finally able to go all night without attention.

Matt learned to talk today, and has been chatting up a storm with his strange doll friend. Sometimes we’re not sure he thinks it’s just a doll. Hopefully he’ll grow out of it.

Sean got one of those dolls, too, from Rachael’s side of the family, and played quietly with it after we finished celebrating his birthday. They’re such a cute pair.

Screenshot-85

Week 6 Day 5, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Matt had a birthday today and we celebrated with some cake. Even Sean had some, although I think he wore more than he actually ate. He gained Ambitious as a trait (adding to friendly and good), and, from what he’s been talking about, he wants to bring a City Hall to this island and run it when I “retire”. It’s funny, he even looks just like me.

Screenshot-87

It being the first day of Fall, it poured all day today, so other than Rachael weeding her garden, all of us stayed inside and worked on our skills. Fall seems very wet in this part of the world.

Rach and Matt had a lively game of chess as she taught him the ropes of the game. All that peg box play he did gave him a real advantage on learning logic, too.

Week 6 Day 6, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

I’m still steadily gaining rank at my job at the military base, and as my rank grows, so does my paycheck. We have a hefty amount saved up now… although what we’re saving for, we haven’t quite decided.

Sean learned to walk while I was at work – so that was a big surprise when I got home. It was a good one, though. He seems to be learning things much faster than Matt did. Either that or we’re becoming better teachers. Who knows which.

Screenshot-89

After work (another promotion), we had that appointment on the mainland. Luckily the science center had a daycare, and we were able to catch a ride to the mainland with Edith, who had dropped off a few packages for us. The appointment went real well, and both of us feel revitalized and younger. (Young Again potions from lifetime happiness points. Both are now young adults again.) All the chemistry got Rachael interested in learning more, and she ordered a chemistry set that should arrive on the island in a week or so.

After putting the kids to bed when we finally got home this evening, Rachael and I had a serious talk. We both feel education is very important. Since there’s no school on the island, we did some online research (we now have phone and internet service out on the island!), and we think boarding school is the best option. We hate to be away from our kids… but their schooling is more important to their future. We’ll be encouraging them to go to University after high school, as well. Finances are pretty steady now that I have a job, so we’ll be able to afford the very best for each of them. Based on Matt’s goals and likes, we’re sending him to Smugglesworth Preparatory School. He leaves tomorrow. Too soon.. but his schooling is important!

Week 6 Day 7, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

First thing this morning, Matt headed off to boarding school. They were kind enough to send a boat out for him and his luggage. (For the price we’re paying, they ought to!) We wished him luck and promised to call him every weekend. He’s welcome to call us during the week, as well, we just don’t want to interrupt his studies with weekday calls. We’ll let him decide when he’s got the time to talk.

Since it was a weekend, I had plenty of time to spend with Sean, and he learned both talking and potty training today. Rachael spent much of the day out in her garden, and she finally mastered gardening! Now she just needs logic to open up the park. (I’m electing to have the unlock for the festival grounds be the same as for a big park – logic and gardening, instead of logic and athletic – I just think it makes more sense.)

I was outside studying the stars after Sean went to bed…. and wouldn’t you know it, I got struck by lightning again. I guess I was lucky.. I got pretty singed, but nothing that wouldn’t wash off in the shower.

Chapter 1.5 < | > Chapter 1.7

Week 5 Day 1, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today, first thing in the morning, Fransisca’s book royalties came in. Roger and Fran are saving up to build their own house here on the island., and they’ve almost got enough. They’ve already picked out a little plot of land up on the bluffs above our beach. Roger is getting awfully good at sculpting, and his pieces seem to sell easily now. Today, however, his allergies are acting up, so he’s been working a little slower than usual.

I mastered Athletics this evening and hurried back inside. There’s a full moon tonight and the zombies will be out again. All four of us in this tiny hut makes for cramped quarters.. but it’s better than being outside!

Week 5 Day 2, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today, another set of sculptures by Roger sold, and they announced that they finally had enough to build their dream house. They had saved up a whopping 18,500 simoleons! Well, maybe not their dream house.. but a functional abode here on the island. Most of the day was spent building and moving furniture around. They had already ordered their bathroom and kitchen furnishings, and Edith had been more than happy to deliver them. She stuck around to help, as well, which was really nice of her.

(Featured photo above is of the outside of the house, below shows a shot of the interior with walls down.)

Screenshot-75

By the end of the day, we were all exhausted, so we went our separate ways. I felt miserable, since it seems I’ve come down with a cold. I wasn’t about to let that stop me from helping out the island’s newest residents, though!

Week 5 Day 3, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today was the first day of summer, and it dawned clear and bright. Rachael slept in this morning – after all the work yesterday, somehow she’s terribly nauseous. Perhaps it’s morning sickness? I took care of her the best I could, and by midday she was feeling much better. Well enough, in fact, to spend most of the rest of the day out in her garden puttering around.

I spent the rest of the day painting and tinkering around the house. Now that I’ve mastered athletics, I just have to master handiness to convince the military to open a small base on the island. I’m so very close to getting it done.  I even promised to sign up when they did so they would be guaranteed at least one recruit!

Screenshot-71

Week 5 Day 4, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Rachael’s definitely pregnant! I’m going to be a dad! Roger and Fran moved out just in the nick of time, because we’re going to need that spare room for a nursery in a few days. Roger and Fran are nearly as excited as we are, and seemed to be almost jealous. I wonder if that means they’ll be starting their own family soon too?

Screenshot-69

And, even better (maybe?), I finished learning handiness, and the Military base will open in a couple days. Having a job will seem so weird after all this time. I don’t intend to give up on my painting, but I doubt I’ll have time to look at the stars anymore, unfortunately.

Rachael spent most of the day working on her logic skill – she wants to be able to hold chess tournaments in the part she’ll be building. Plus, it kept her out of the garden, so I felt much better about her taking it easy. What can I say, apparently I’m a bit of a worrywart.

Screenshot-72

Week 5 Day 5, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

In the morning, Rachael and I went to visit the Whitehead’s – just to check up on them and make sure they were settling in okay. Rachael and Fran talked girl talk while Roger and I got to know each other a little bit better.

We came back home in the afternoon, which turned out to be a lucky break, because not too long after we got home, Rachael went into labor. Understandably, I panicked. I’m afraid to say I was of very little help. Rachael was a hero, and the home birth went off much easier than we had expected. At about 9pm, we welcomed our firstborn son, Matthew, into the world.

Screenshot-78

He’s friendly and good, and we’re terribly proud of him.

Oh, I nearly forgot. The Military base is apparently ready, and I am supposed to start work tomorrow. I have to say, I’m nervous and I’m not exactly sure what to expect. I’m sure it will be fine, but the nerves made it tough to sleep.

Week 5 Day 6, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

I was up before the sun this morning, and heading into work on my bike. I suppose we could have a car hauled out here, but I definitely don’t want to start polluting my island already! I took a picture of the base so I could include it, but that was the only free time I had all day until work was over. The commute takes a good hour or so, but I don’t mind. Having the income is definitely a must for our growing family.

Rachael was glad to see me home so I could help out with Matthew while she worked in the garden. I have to admit, though, he was a pretty happy baby, and I didn’t have to do much… so I had dinner waiting when she came back in. She was surprised, but pleased. I like it when I can surprise her like that.

Week 5 Day 7, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today is Matt’s birthday… and apparently we have another on the way already. I’m as thrilled as can be.. perhaps I can even be of more use on the home birth this time, too.

Screenshot-80

Matt is going to be learning his life skills starting tomorrow, but tonight I took him outside and let him play in the sand for a while. I had to keep a close eye on him so he didn’t put it in his mouth.. he’s teething and wants to chew on everything.

Screenshot-81

After we got Matt down for the night, we played a couple quick games of chess and I managed to get my skill up to level 7.. Rach and I are a pretty evenly matched pair. She won one game, and I won the other.

Week 4 Day 1, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Before I go any further, I need to finish introducing my wife, Rachael. She’s Overemotional, Loves the Outdoors, a Virtuoso, Green Thumb, and a Computer Whiz. Her lifetime wish is to have a Perfect Garden. Her best friend is a man named Roger Whitehead. Being that one of the important things in building my island is finding more people to live here, she invited him over and tried to sell him on the idea. If his enthusiastic response means anything, he’ll be a good addition to the island.

Screenshot-41
Roger learning to sculpt

He immediately decided his goal would be to build a second hand store on the island, and started learning to sculpt. Roger is a vegetarian, virtuoso, lucky, diva, angler, and wanted to be a vocal legend. (Turns out, he can’t sing worth a lick, but his creative mind works out great for sculpting.)

With the new addition to the “family”, a bigger hut and more furnishings were in order, so I spent the whole morning on that task.

Screenshot-43
Rachael’s garden

The garden I started is now flourishing under Rachael’s expert hand, and she’s looking forward to the park she’ll eventually set up on the Shores.

Screenshot-45
Fransisca and I chatting

After expanding the hut, I invited Fransisca over in the hopes of getting her on board with moving to the island as well. It seems she’d already had that idea in mind, and she had come with her luggage! She is flirty, a party animal, clumsy, childish, athletic, and a cat person. Her lifetime wish is to be a heartbreaker. One thing she’s sure the island needs is  a bookstore, and she’s always wanted to learn to write, so she plans to work on that while she’s here (and brought her computer to that end.)

Screenshot-46
Fran and Roger?

Then, something happened none of us had planned. Fran met Roger.. and everyone could see the sparks fly.

Screenshot-47
Guess we don’t need two twin beds!

Before the evening had even ended, they were talking marriage and retired to their room. Rachael and I giggled about it, then went back to working on our skills despite. We were grateful for the thatched roof over our heads when a thunderstorm decided to blow through just after dark.

Week 4 Day 2, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

With all the new traffic in the house, things are likely to break.. and that’s what happened when I tried washing the breakfast dishes this morning. Good thing I’m handy enough now to fix it in a jiffy! I then spent the rest of the morning upgrading the new stove and the washing machine. Rachael put up a clothes line out near the garden, and we all eagerly anticipated having clean clothes.

The first bills arrived late morning and I quickly wrote a check for Edith (the mail lady, remember?) to take back the the mainland with her.

I guess the thunderstorm never really went away, because it rained most of the day. Roger and Fran spent the day working on their new skills. I hoped Roger in particular wouldn’t get sick from sculpting out in the rain, but he didn’t seem to mind it!

Week 4 Day 3, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today was one of those days with not much to write home about. All of us had stuff to do – Rachael worked in the garden then played chess, I worked out then tinkered around with the sink, trying to figure out why it broke yesterday. Roger sculpted, slowly getting better at it, and selling his pieces for more and more money. Fran worked on a book on her computer at the makeshift desk we made for her.

Furiously skilling…

Our first load of laundry was out on the line, drying on the one dry day we’d had in quite a while.

Week 4 Day 4, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today was Fran’s birthday, but most of us were too busy to hardly notice. That didn’t dampen her spirits, however, and she finished her first book and started immediately on her second.

Yay!

For the rest of us, it was just another day of skilling.

Week 4 Day 5-6, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Another two days of skilling.

Rachael’s allergies acted up while she was out in the garden, so she was all stuffed up for most of the day.

The second day, it rained quite a bit, again soaking poor Roger – whose sculptures were really starting to look amazing.

Week 4 Day 7, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today was Roger’s birthday, he turned into an elder, but didn’t let that slow him down.

Sorry the end of the week was so boring, but at least there were a lot of skills improved!

Look at the dead plants!

I woke up the next morning to a completely destroyed garden. Again, it was raining, but building a garden fence was not going to wait. I finally felt better, though, I guess rest does cure everything. Digging post holes took me most of the day, but at least it gave me quite a workout.

Week 3 Day 2, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

I went out jogging and exploring again today, and picked out a perfect spot for a park or festival grounds. I also sent off a note to Fransisca about the possibility of a small military base for the island. there were too many ideas in my head to count, but those two were the top priorities… other than getting some more residents into the city. I was half sure that if I could build a decent house for Fransisca, she might take the plunge and move to paradise with me. I also put my paintings out by the mailbox for Fransisca to sell for me.

More sharks!

It didn’t feel too much like paradise today, however, in the pouring rain while fishing for some food. I saw some more sharks today, but they didn’t seem interested in me or the fish I caught. By the time I got back in, the mail I’d left was gone, so I assume the mail person had come for the first time. It felt like such a rush to be able to communicate again! To my surprise, there was also a note that the water and electricity hookups should be working, a book on setting up circuits, wires and pipes, and some electric lights for my hut! I spent the rest of the day reading and tinkering with with my new “toys.”

After the sun went down, I studied the sky for a while, and discovered a new star!

Week 3 Day 3, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

After breakfast, I worked out, and could tell I was getting stronger. I also found a new seed and a shell, worked in the garden, and went fishing. Still raining.. I think that’s the worst part about fall here in the tropics. At least I won’t have to worry about winter, though!

Week 3 Day 4, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

In the middle of the night, the most astounding thing happened.. I was awoken to the sound of a camera taking pictures and the accompanying flashes. Groggily, I went outside to see what was going on. Would you believe the paparazzi has apparently shown up on my island. Her name was Rachael, and, despite the weirdness of the situation, I was immediately attracted to her. I invited her to sit by a fire and chat with me… and we spent most of the night getting to know each other. The boat came to pick her up to take her back to the mainland (which was apparently not too far away) in the morning, and I fell into bed, exhausted.

Consequently, I slept in… when I finally woke up in the afternoon, I made a phone call to Fransisca on my newly charged phone, and ordered a new double bed, end tables, a couple kitchen counters, a sink, some groceries, and a special something else… I had big plans for my little hut and that pretty lady I’d met last night! I spent the rest of the day expanding my hut in preparation for the bed and tables coming in the mail tomorrow.

With my new expanded home, I was able to move the chess set indoors and even practiced a bit in the glow on my new electric lights!

Week 3 Day 5, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

First thing in the morning, I was up and dismantling my old bed – smelly as it was. Before long, I heard whistling coming from outside  – the mail was here! The mail lady, Edith, and I made short work of unloading my new furniture from her boat and setting it up in my hut. She was amazed to see how well I was living out here in the “wilds” as she called it. We spent the day socializing, and as the sun went, she left in her boat, promising to see me again on Monday. What a novel thought – I hadn’t put names to days in ages! Apparently she was adding our little island to her Monday and Thursday routes. I finally felt like an adult – running my own island – and man did I have plans for it!

Ahh… luxury.

Week 3 Day 6, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Sometime overnight, a mysterious little mariner gnome doll showed up on my beach. I’ve named him Fred, and placed him on the shelf by the chess board. By the end of the day, he had somehow moved out to the coffee table!

My new chin up bar

I started my morning with a workout and a shower, then called up Rachael and invited her out to my island again – I had a surprise for her. The ring I had purchased was burning a hole in my pocket as I waited for her at the site I had chosen for the island’s first park. I wanted her to see how perfect it could be for her to create a park – She had a natural Green Thumb, and loved gardening. I hoped she would approve!

It seemed like hours as I waited for her in the chilly Spring air. After she arrived, I showed her around the site, and talked seriously about my plans for the island. I could tell she was impressed. Giddily, we agreed to marry, and I slipped the ring on her finger.

Week 3 Day 7, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today was spent in domestic bliss, me tinkering on the sink, her playing chess (since it’s too cold outside to garden). The new kitchen was nearly complete. Eventually, I would order an oven for it, but for now, it felt like I was living in style!

Edited the main page and menus

Just spent some time editing the main home page and the menus to reflect what I’ve currently working on. In the next day or two, I should have another page for the castaway shores challenge up (finishing catching it up) as well as possibly another Falcon Apacalypse page (it’s already caught up, so that means more play time!) As for Spectres, I haven’t been able to get it working yet, so I’m holding off on updating it until I figure out if I can get it working again. I do have several more play days journaled that aren’t in the blog yet, so I could post them… I just haven’t yet.

Castaway Shores Chapter 1.3

Chapter 1.2 <| > Chapter 1.4

Week 2 Day 1, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

After that lightning strike yesterday, my first order of business was building a hut. I certainly had enough lumber from what I have found strewn about the island. I didn’t really know how to build a hut, but one of the books I had was a survival guide that outlined how to build one. It turned out better than I even expected! I also built a makeshift cot/bed so I wouldn’t get munched on by the sand fleas anymore. The whole operation took me most of the day, however, leaving me just enough time to fish for dinner and plant a Kona bean seed that I had found. What can I say, I miss my coffee! While fishing I managed to get both a red herring (which was delicious) and a perfect anchovy.

Week 2 Day 2, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Sleeping in a bed was heaven, and I didn’t miss the tent at all. After morning ablutions in the bathroom, I had an anchovy for breakfast and set out for the day. I improved on my hut a bit, building a bookcase out of an old rowboat I found on the island that didn’t float anymore (and believe me I tried). I also built a shelf for all the knick knacks I’ve aquired – shells and such.

Screenshot-109
Fruit trees!

I again wandered the island, finding a few more seeds, and planted a better garden. Vegetables sounded amazing after all the fish I’d been eating. I spent most of the day jogging and exploring, getting to know my island a bit better. I also discovered some fruit trees out on the island, and had a very welcome lunch of apples and pomelos. I found some flowers, which I picked, and foolishly got allergies from them. They looked really nice on my coffee table, though.

I also spent some time as it got dark tinkering with the bathroom – and promptly broke it. After fixing it, I decided enough was enough and went to bed. Tomorrow can be a better day.

Week 2 Day 3, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

I spent a good portion of the day practicing painting, having moved the easel inside due to the rain. Staying dry was such a nice thing, although going out to tend to my garden just got me cold and wet. After warming up by the fire, I read some more from my cookbook, and discovered how to roast my fruit, which I then did.

Week 2 Day 4, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today was the first day of fall! I can’t believe I’ve been here all summer. The day started out sunny and gorgeous, so I played chess outside after a brief fishing jaunt and breakfast.

Then, my phone rang again. It was Fransica again. Apparently most of the rest of the people from the cruise ship had been rescued by another ship, and were back home. The island I was on (and the smaller islands I could see offshore) was owned by an old man who refused to sell to the corporation that had wanted to put a huge private resort here. He had, apparently, brightened up considerably when he discovered that his island had, literally, saved my life. He agreed to sell the land to me for what I had saved up… so now the island was.. officially mine! She also managed to reinstate the mail services, and even the water and electricity! Someone would be out in the next week to connect me to both grids, and to make sure everything was working as intended.

Shortly after that monumental phone call (which had drained my cell phone battery almost completely), the rain set in again, so I stayed inside and practiced my speech to welcome newcomers to the island I was going to name “Castaway Shores”.

Week 2 Day 5, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Today, I spent much of the time indoors, painting, due to the rain coming down outside. My painting skill was increasing, albeit slowly, and with it, the value of my pieces. Now that the mail service was going to be restarted, I was going to be able to sell them so I could keep up with the bills that would be coming as well.

Week 2 Day 6, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

Another day of rain… being in the tropics definitely had it’s downfalls! I spent the day painting, and trying to stay dry. I wasn’t completely successful and caught a nasty cold. Being sick is no fun, especially when there’s no one around to take care of you!

Week 2 Day 7, Micah McCloud’s Adventure Journal

I spent much of today in bed, sick, although finding a bottle washed up on my beach cheered me up immensely. Inside was what appeared to be part of a map. The full moon rose tonight, and I slept poorly due to strange crunching sounds outside my small hut. I refused to go out to check out what it was, though, thinking it might be wild animals.
